Building Communities in 2025
I've been thinking about starting a newsletter, but more importantly, about finding the right platform to build a genuine community. While Discord and Slack are the usual suspects, there are some interesting alternatives worth considering:
- Circle - Great for course creators and community monetization
- Geneva - Rising star for intimate community spaces
- Mighty Networks - Solid for building paid communities
- Telegram - Simple but effective for broadcast-style communities
The key differences seem to be in their approach to community engagement, API flexibility, and pricing structures.
AI's Impact on Information Access
The way ChatGPT and similar tools are transforming how we process information is mind-bending. We're moving toward a world where the challenge isn't finding information - it's knowing what to do with it. The playing field is leveling in terms of skill access and knowledge, but the ability to synthesize and apply that knowledge meaningfully is becoming the real differentiator.
Hashtag Strategy for Project Management
One thing I'm excited to implement is a unified hashtag system across all my content and file management. The idea is simple but powerful: using unique, consistent hashtags to track specific projects and initiatives.
The format I'm adopting is: #abc_ProjectName, where:
- abc = my personal prefix to ensure uniqueness
- “_x_” = to ensure it doesn’t get mixed up in all the other people using “abc” to start their hashtags
- ProjectName = specific identifier for each project or initiative
For example:
- #abc_x_AIResearch - for tracking AI-related research
- #abc_x_CommunityBuild - for community building initiatives
- #abc_x_InvestStrategy - for investment-related content
This system will help me:
- Easily track content across different platforms
- Maintain consistent file naming conventions
- Create searchable archives of project-related materials
- Connect social media posts with internal documentation
I'll be implementing this across my social media posts, internal documents, and project files to create a seamless tracking system.
Modeling the Future
The moon was particularly stunning tonight (not to get too poetic about it), and it got me thinking about using AI for simulation modeling and prediction. AI is becoming increasingly powerful at helping us model potential outcomes, whether in team management, project planning, or investment strategies. Will share more thoughts on this later.
